Course Description
This course focuses on using technology in K-6 grade and addresses the integration of technology in all curricular areas for all students. You will investigate theoretical and practical issues surrounding the use of multimedia, Internet resources, Web 2.0 functionality, educational software, and social networking within the curriculum.
The technology used will provide you with the ability to develop lesson activities to utilize in the classroom so students will make meaningful connections in their learning process and develop 21st Century learning skills. I feel if teacher candidates are trained to incorporate various technology tools into their curriculum it will energize their instruction and motivate students to learn. By incorporating various technologies as part of the curriculum you will have the opportunity to see how this equipment has the capability to improve classroom practices

Wiki
This site is a wiki, which is a collaborative website where students can edit at a common place. You will be able to edit and help build our class website. The ELED wiki is intended for students to help each other share ideas and use technology in the classroom in practical ways. (For theoretical discussions related to education involving these technologies, see the "School 2.0" website.)

working wikiOn the left navigation bar you will find projects to complete this semester. You will also find pages to add your thoughts about different technology tools and discuss points that may be unclear.

A wiki is a website that uses wiki software, allowing the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked Web pages, using a simplified markup language.

Much traditional teaching is based on the model of a pipeline through which knowledge passes from teacher to students. The role of a teacher today is to create the conditions for invention rather than provide ready-made knowledge (Seymour Papert).

It was kind of sad to see field come to an end. I have developed a great connection for the students and will miss them, I am however excited to be moving forward in the program and see this semester come to a close!

We are really excited about teaching our sixth graders about Egypt. WE introduced Egypt with are digital story telling and thye are really excited to learn more. They haven't had much time with social studies, but the students are wanting to learn more. I think this is going to be fun.

We taught our first lesson Thursday, it was on the Boston Tea Party. It turned out to be a lot of fun! Louise was a Great King George, "Hear Ye, Hear Ye." The students were well behaved for the most part despite the fact that the lesson had a lot of exciting interruptions. We will be teaching three more lessons next week. We've been observing and helping with some great lessons in Fifth Grade. Teachers are amazing people! I want to be like the wonderful teachers I've seen! It's going to take a lot of work!
